Overview
What do all those letters stand for that follow my name?

I have been a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of The Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) since 2017.

The following information describes the credentials that I hold in the United States.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor (LCPC)
National Certified Counsellor (NCC)
This designation allows me to diagnose and treat mental illness in Nevada. It requires a Master’s Degree and a passing score on two different national standardized exams. I’ve held this designation since 2014, including a 3000 hour supervised internship.
These are individuals who complete a Master’s Degree in counselling and pass a national standardized exam. I’ve held this certification since 2008.
Certified Case Manager (CCM)
This is a specialty designation for individuals who already hold a credential in social work, nursing or rehabilitation. It requires additional training, supervised experience and a national standardized exam. Their role is to provide emotional support while co-ordinating services and benefits for individuals with complex or chronic medical conditions and/or catastrophic injuries. I’ve held this certification since 1993 and placed it on retirement status in 2019.
Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CRC)
These professionals assist individuals with mental health, developmental, physical and/or social challenges to function more effectively in the community. This includes home, school, employment and social settings. This designation requires a Master’s Degree in Counselling with specialized courses, a national standardized exam, and supervised practice. I’ve held this certification since 1991.
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (LADC)
This is the license that allows individuals to diagnose and treat substance use disorders in Nevada. It requires a Master’s Degree, supervised practice and a national standardized exam. I’ve held this since 1997.
Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
I held this designation allowing me to practice social work in Nevada from 1994 until 2019.
